Using Bi-directional Couplers to Reconstruct a Radio Signal

I’ve recently started my PhD program at WashU, which is why I haven’t posted any projects recently. My project over the winter break is a homebrew horizontal scaler. It’s sorely needed after that fiasco with the Endgame Timeline going viral. Not sure if I’ll open-source it, because SecOps, but we’ll see. Anywho, here’s what I’m doing at WashU:

We need to observe an unknown transmitted signal coming out of a Software-Defined Radio. We do this by inserting a probe between the radio and its antenna. The primary problem is the antenna can reflect the signal and pick up interference, but these unwanted signals can be filtered out with the use of a special probe: a bidirectional coupler.
